About Kevin M. Kelly

I am an anthropologist with broad training in the four fields of anthropology, a focus on the origins, manifestations & measurement of human cultural and biological variation, and a variety of experimental, clinical & field experiences.  During my career, I have worked as an independent researcher, project leader and team member at academic and for-profit institutions—building partnerships while successfully applying my anthropological training to issues in medicine and public health as well as anthropology.

I am a fellow of the American Anthropological Association, a fellow of the Human Biology Association, a member of the American Association of Anthropological Genetics, the Biological Anthropology Section of the AAA, the Melanesia Interest Group of the AAA, the Paleopathology Association, the Society for Anthropological Science, the Society for Medical Anthropology, the

From 1983-1991, I was Research Assistant III and later, Assistant Research Scientist with the Cleft Palate Program Project of the Department of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery, University of Iowa.

In 1991, I took a position as a Senior Research Scientist at the Humana Advance Surgical Institute (later, Supervisor of Clinical Research in the Dept of Clinical Research) at Medical City Dallas Hospital, Dallas Texas.  While at Medical City Dallas Hospital, I was a member of the Scientific Advisory Committee (1991-1996),the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (1991-1996), the Institutional Review Committee (human subjects, 1994-1996) and the Heart and Lung Transplant Committee (1996).

In 1996, I took a position at the University of Iowa, this time in the then Dept of Preventive Medicine and Environmental Health (now, College of Public Health) as a Data Base Analyst for the Keokuk County Rural Health Study.

In 1998, I established “Kelly Webworks,” a sole proprietorship web hosting company focusing on small businesses and not-for-profits organizations.  In particular, 'we' specialize in supporting a anthropologically- and health-related organizations.
